The amount of hair recommended for micro bead hair extensions depends on the desired look and the thickness of the natural hair. As a general guideline:

  • For a full head of extensions: 100-150 grams of hair is recommended.
  • For adding volume or thickness: 50-100 grams of hair is recommended.
  • For a subtle, natural look: 30-50 grams of hair is recommended.

It's important to note that the exact amount of hair needed can vary greatly depending on the individual, as factors such as the thickness and length of the natural hair, as well as the desired end result, can impact the amount of hair required. It's always best to consult with a professional stylist to determine the right amount of hair for your specific needs.

Here are some of the dos and don'ts of caring for human hair extensions:

Dos:

  • Use a gentle shampoo and conditioner specifically formulated for human hair extensions
  • Brush or comb the extensions daily to remove tangles and prevent matting
  • Avoid excessive heat styling to reduce damage
  • Store the extensions properly when not in use
  • Have the extensions trimmed regularly to maintain their shape and health
  • Do use a wide-toothed comb or detangling brush to gently remove knots and tangles
  • Do allow the extensions to air dry after washing, rather than using a hair dryer, to minimise heat damage

Don'ts:

  • Don't use sulfate-based products, as they can dry out the extensions
  • Don't go to bed with wet extensions, as this can lead to tangling and matting
  • Don't apply heavy oils or products to the roots, as this can cause the extensions to slip
  • Don't over-wash the extensions, as this can strip them of their natural oils
  • Don't tie the extensions too tightly or use rubber bands, as this can cause damage and breakage
  • Don't expose the extensions to excessive sun, chlorine or salt water, as this can cause fading and damage
  • Don't attempt to colour or chemically treat the extensions yourself, as this should only be done by a professional to avoid damaging the hair.

Transform your look with ease using I-Tip (Micro Bead) Hair Extensions. These extensions can give you a new length and volume without the need for glue or heat. They are attached using small metal microbeads and a pulling hook. Simply place a microbead on a section of your hair using the hook, thread a few strands through the bead, and clamp the bead shut with hair extension pliers. Tools sold separately.

Repeat this process around and up your head until you've achieved the desired look. The microbeads are lined with silicone to ensure a secure grip without damaging your natural hair.

You can opt to dye your Human Hair extensions to achieve your desired shade. Our sets can be safely toned/dyed as Portia & Alexa Hair is a premium quality 100% Human Remy Hair . 


Like most human hair extensions, Portia & Alexa Hair should not be bleached or lightened. Our hair goes through a long dying process to achieve our gorgeous shades, therefore please do not attempt to bleach or lighten your extensions as this may cause damage, shedding and dryness to the hair.

We do not cover any costs nor take any responsibility for any issues you may encounter during or after the dying/toning process as we cannot be sure how your specific product reacts or the method in which it was applied. Always test your dye/toner one small piece of hair first to ensure it gives you the results you want.

Dying/toning is considered drastic modification of the product as these products contain quite harsh chemicals that may effect the feel, condition & lifespan of your set. It may increase the chance of dryness, shedding, tangling & breakage. Our hair goes through a long dying and bleaching process to get it to our fabulous shades.

 

Our I Tip Hair Extension sets contain 1 gram per strand, and remain thick all the way to the ends.  Suitable for adding length and thickness to your natural hair, with an easy to apply system.

For an average full head recommend  100 pieces and for a thicker more voluminous look we would recommend 150 pieces.

I Tip Hair Extensions are attached to your hair with microbeads .You loop a very small section of your hair through the loop, and then you tighten the bead by clamping the tip around your real hair.(Professional application is recommended).

You will need 5mm Micro beads, Hair Extension Pliers and a  Pulling Loop to apply these. These can be found in our store under the accessories section.
